Which Photo Booths Can Be Used Outside?

A Photo Booth in use outdoors

With spring and then Summer ultimately looming on the horizon, many of our clients are now beginning to start planning Weddings and Parties out in the Sun! Which of course leads to the question - “Which of your Photo Booths can be used outside”? Now whilst most Photo Booth companies will simply tell you no, we try and be a little more flexible at Booths By Lux – so we've included some advice on which booths may be best suited below.

360 Booth

Our ever-popular 360 platform includes portable lights on tripods, which are quickly movable in the event of rain. As these can be moved undercover in mere seconds, the risk of these being damaged is reasonably negligible. All we would ask is that you have a tarpaulin or other cover of sorts available in the event that the booth itself does need immediate cover, if it begins to rain.

Magic Mirror

As this booth is so heavy – the Magic Mirror cannot be used on any surfaces that would be difficult to navigate with wheels. So grass, turf, astroturf, pebbles etc – would unfortunately have to be a no. It may be able to be placed on a patio – but in this scenario it would have to be situated very near to a spot where it can be kept undercover. In most cases – this booth would not be suitable for outdoor use, unless kept under a marquee or similar form of cover. The other issue here is that when the Mirror is not under a Marquee, it may be difficult to see the screen in pure daylight. So we would generally recommend that this booth be kept either indoors or undercover.

LuxBooth

The advice on this booth would be somewhere between the 360 and Magic Mirror. Ideally – it would always be placed under a marquee of some sort. However – as it's significantly more portable than the Mirror, this can be placed on a wider range of surfaces than the Mirror. As it sits on a tripod, the ground does need to be flat in order for the pics to not be uneven.

Roamer / Roaming Photo Booth

As this booth is fully portable / handheld, this is without question the best option for outdoor events. In the event that it begins to rain, the operator can simply move inside. If you've opted to have a printer with this booth, this will need to sit under cover at all times.

We hope this has provided you with some valuable insight on which of our booths are most suited to outdoor events! In general, the advice would be to have a plan in place in case it does begin to rain. This may involve locating the booth very close to cover (or even better under a gazebo or tent of some sort), keeping a tarpaulin nearby, and regularly checking the weather in the days leading up to the event. If rain is highly likely on the day, it may be pertinent to re-evaluate where the booth will be located, and perhaps move it inside.
